Hundreds of bicyclists will be at Love Creek County Park next month for Love Biketober Fest 2024.
Love Creek County Park naturalist Derek Pelc tells us the Bike Michiana Coalition teams up with the park each fall to celebrate the joys of their hobby.
“Really, it’s just a festival of cycling in nature,” Pelc said. “There’s going to be food and drinks provided, Seedz Brewery providing a Biketoberfest beer, and Evil Czech will be providing brats on the grill, and really, it’s a fundraiser for Bike Michiana Coalition. They do a lot in the community to support all things cycling.”
In addition to the celebration, there will be opportunities to ride. Pelc says a rider can take to the Love Creek trails or choose from several routes around the county that will be offered.
“There’s several different routes you can take and none of these are timed. They’re kind of a ‘Go at your own pace.’ So there’s three different gravel routes that range from 13 to 32 miles. Basically, that’s going to be a scenic backroads route that involve some road and some gravel. There’s also two road routes that are 25 and 52 miles long, as well as the mountain bike trail here at Love Creek.”
Love Biketober Fest started in 2018, and has been held each year since, except 2020 and 2021. This year’s event will be October 6 at Love Creek.
Pelc says it’s $50 to take part and registrations are being taken now. You can learn more about the event right here.
