A developer is getting close to constructing some vacation rentals on a 30-acre rural property in Benton Township.
The Benton Township Board of Trustees this week considered an amendment to Millburg Equipment’s special land use permit at 4545 Territorial Road to let the company build some model cabins on the site. Township building official Loyall Bennett explained.
“They want to bring in four park models,” Bennett said. “It still falls within the single family zoning that is on that particular property. Once they complete the build out of the 25 cabins, those four park models will be removed off the property completely.”
The owner of B&Z Excavating, the developer, is planning to start work on the 25 rental cabins surrounding a lake soon.
Bennett said the model cabins will be built on concrete slabs and removed completely when the permanent cabins are finished.
Developers are planning to call the completed resort Sandblox Resort in honor of the property’s legacy as a sand pit and block factory. Trustees this week approved the permit amendment to allow for the models.
