The Buchanan City Commission has received three applications for a vacancy created by the recent resignation of Mayor Sean Denison.

The city says Scott King, Raquell George, and Tony Houser have applied to serve the remainder of Denison’s term, which expires in 2026.

The deadline to apply was August 30.

With applications for the vacancy now in, the city commission will choose one candidate to be appointed to fill out the remainder of Denison’s term.

Denison resigned in August following a period of controversy when Denison placed the former city manager on administrative leave. A recall effort against Denison was ended with his resignation.
