The Democratic National Convention began Monday in Chicago.

Governor Gretchen Whitmer on “Meet the Press” Sunday was asked about history potentially being made if Vice President Kamala Harris wins the election in November, making her the first female commander in chief.

It is historic and women in leadership, I think you see the results,” Whitmer said. “I’ve got seven colleagues who are female Democratic governors doing great work in all of our states and Kamala Harris is going to make a seat at the table for every person and I think that’s a uniquely female characteristic in leadership, and I’m excited. That is one part of what we’re going to be talking about this week.”

Whitmer is set to take the stage at the National Convention on Wednesday night.
