There’s another athlete with Michigan connection to watch in the Summer Olympics.

Aaron Cummings was born in Muskegon and went to Davenport University in Grand Rapids. He’s a forward on USA’s Olympic Rugby team, a rough sport that some say is the father of football.

Cummings wants to thank everyone for their support.

“I greatly appreciate all the support from everyone who’s helped me along the journey,” Cummings said. “All my coaches, my family, and anyone else who has decided to look me up and root for me. That won’t go unnoticed and I’m doing it for all of you.”

The Olympic Rugby games started Wednesday morning for Team USA against France.
