The South Haven Rotary Club’s Mark Odland has been named the District Governor of Rotary International’s District 6360. That’s a district that covers more than 50 Rotary clubs and more than 2,000 members in Southwest Michigan.

Odland tells us he was convinced to put his name in the running for governor by a friend a few years ago. Now that he’s been inducted as the regional Rotary Club leader, he has some goals for the coming year.

One is to increase our membership of these 52 clubs, and two is to expand the number of clubs in the district,” Odland said. “Three is to increase our support for the philanthropic efforts of the Rotary Foundation.

Odland says Rotary International plans out the appointment of governors years in advance, and up for next year will be a Rotarian from St. Joseph.

Odland calls it an honor to be named Rotary governor, noting the post comes with a lot of travel. Already, he’s been to Jackson to meet with the Rotary Club there.

The Southwest Michigan Rotary district stretches from Lansing west to the shore of Lake Michigan, and down to the Indiana border.
