Columbia Records

Columbia RecordsA variety of classic and obscure late-1960s rock, pop and soul tunes are featured on the soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino‘s star-studded new film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. It comes out Friday, the same day the film opens in theaters across the U.S.

RollingStone.com reports that the album includes two Deep Purple songs — “Hush” and a cover of Neil Diamond‘s “Kentucky Woman” — as well as The Bob Seger System‘s “Ramblin’ Gamblin’ Man”;  Simon & Garfunkel‘s “Mrs. Robinson”; and a version of Vanilla Fudge‘s hit cover of The Supremes‘ “You Keep Me Hangin’ On,” edited by Tarantino.

The record also features tunes by Diamond himself, plus Paul Revere & The Raiders, The Box Tops and many others.

The director curated the soundtrack, which features 22 songs sequenced like a ’60s-era radio show, including nine radio ads from that period.

The tunes hail are from around same time period in which Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is set. The movie follows various fictional and real-life characters, and partly focuses on the infamous murders carried out by cult leader Charles Manson and his followers.

The film’s cast includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Brad Pitt, Al Pacino, Bruce Dern, Margot Robbie, Emile Hirsch, Margaret Qualley, Timothy Olyphant and Dakota Fanning.

The soundtrack will be available on CD, vinyl LP, digitally and via streaming services. The LP initially be sold only at select stores, while a number of colored-vinyl versions will get a wider release in the fall.
